Progress Continues on Passenger Rail Line from Chicago-Fort Wayne-Columbus

An analysis examining possible operating plans and preliminary costs for a passenger rail line connecting Chicago to Fort Wayne and Columbus is on track to be complete by the last quarter of 2017.

HNTB, the contractor hired to complete the study, provided an update on the work during a recent meeting of passenger rail stakeholders hosted by Northern Indiana Passenger Rail Association (NIPRA). The analysis, formally called the Alternatives Analysis and Public Involvement Process, is required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) under federal law in order to begin the rail project.

Bike to Work Day Breakfast Set for Friday

As part of national Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 19, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry is encouraging local residents to give bike commuting a try.

On their way to work, residents are invited to stop at Headwaters West for the City’s Bike to Work Day breakfast from 6:30 to 8 a.m. During the breakfast, cyclists can enjoy free coffee, bagels and fruit courtesy of Parkview Health.

Cityscape Flats Celebrates Opening

May 4, 2017 -- Cityscape Flats LLC, an investor in Greater Fort Wayne Inc., celebrated the opening of its 143,000-square foot luxury apartment community by DOMO Development and Weigand Construction Co., Inc. on Thursday, May 4, at 11 a.m. Cityscape Flats is located next to Parkview Field on Jefferson Boulevard between Ewing Street and Fairfield Avenue. The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission is investing in the public infrastructure for the project.

Cityscape Flats features 163 luxury apartment homes comprised of five studios, 118 one-bedroom and 40 two-bedroom units. There are nine different floorplans featured in the three- and four-story buildings. Apartments include spacious designs and tall ceilings, granite kitchen countertops, modern light fixtures and stainless steel appliances. This development includes 14 for sale luxury town homes, estimated to be completed fall 2017.

Weed Program Starts Today

The City of Fort Wayne’s Weed Program kicks off today, April 24, 2017. The Neighborhood Code Department is responsible for enforcing the City’s Weed Program, which calls for weeds or grass to be no taller than nine inches.

Reports of high grass or weeds that exceed nine inches will be accepted beginning today; the public should call 311 or 260-427-8311 to report a possible violation. Online complaints may be filed at www.cityoffortwayne.org/citizen-services. Individuals reporting a violation will need to have the property’s specific street address to register the complaint.
