Who We Are

Our mission is to make Fort Wayne the most livable city in the nation by working with community partners to build strong neighborhoods & improve quality of life through the strategic investment of public resources.

What We Do

The Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services (“OHNS”) works to attract and support housing investment in the City and expand access to safe, decent, affordable housing.  OHNS administers the City's entitlement programs, including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESG); each is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Office also partners with local non-profit organizations to address needs in the community.

This department also administers other non-entitlement grants and programs, such as Neighborhood Stabilization Program, Neighborhood Stabilization Program 3. Additionally, OHNS operates several housing and neighborhood development programs such as Homeowner Repair, Homebuyer Education, Down Payment Assistance, Rental Rehab and Ready to Rent (rental housing assistance).
