Mayor Launches Community Dialogue

Citizen Input is Centerpiece of Process, Local Leaders to Serve on Task Force 

Keenly focused on building a stronger, more vibrant future for the people of Fort Wayne, Mayor Tom Henry today unveiled the framework for Legacy Fort Wayne, the community initiative to guide decision making about the Fort Wayne Community Trust and City Light Lease Settlement funds. He also named the co-chairs and members of the Legacy Fort Wayne Task Force that will direct the process, and outlined the community involvement component that will be a focal point of the work.

City Light Lease Settlement Announcement

The City of Fort Wayne and Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) announced today that they have signed an agreement resolving issues surrounding the conclusion of the 35-year-old City Light lease. The agreement is subject to approval by Fort Wayne City Council and the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC).

The agreement, if approved, would end ongoing disputes and litigation between the two parties and confirms I&M as the exclusive electric service provider for Fort Wayne customers. Currently, a lawsuit over the matter is pending in Allen County Superior Court.
