Fort Wayne, Ind. –  The 2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Services and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding cycles will open on February 12, 2024. CDBG and ESG funds are available to the City of Fort Wayne through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

CDBG funds may be used to support new or expanded services that improve the quality of life for low-and moderate-income individuals or households. Specific priorities for eligible public service activities include but are not limited to, programs concerned with housing counseling, employment, crime prevention, childcare, health care, drug abuse prevention, education, mental health, welfare, recreation, or infectious disease response. The ESG funding may be used to address issues surrounding homelessness.

Interested non-profit agencies should plan to attend a voluntary Technical Assistance session on February 14 at 2:00 pm at the AWS Foundation (5323 West Jefferson Boulevard). The session will comprehensively cover the Neighborly platform and all CDBG/ESG application prerequisites.

In an effort to streamline the application process and enhance accessibility, applications will be accessible solely through the Neighborly platform. To ensure that applicants have adequate time to complete their applications, potential applicants are urged to submit their Letter of Intent (LOI) as soon as possible. To access the full application in Neighborly, an LOI must have been submitted and accepted by City Staff in the online platform.

Applications will only be able to be accessed through the Neighborly platform. To access the platform, please visit https://www.fwcommunitydevelopment.org/housing/public-services-and-esg-subrecipients.

Only recognized and established 501(c)3 agencies are eligible for funding

As with all HUD funds received by OHNS, a reduction by the federal government in the amount of funding available to HUD will result in reduced funding available to local agencies. All public service agreements are structured as reimbursable grants.
