City announces official start date for Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Mayor Sharon Tucker and the City of Fort Wayne's Community Development Division in partnership with Downtown Fort Wayne, announce the official start date of Sunday, May 5, for the City's first Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, located in downtown Fort Wayne. The “Downtown DORA” received its final approval from the Fort Wayne City Council in late December of last year and final state approval in March.

Fort Wayne selected for Urban Heat Island Mapping Campaign

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division in partnership with the Public Works Division and the Office of Sustainability, has been selected to lead a campaign to map heat and air quality in Fort Wayne. The division will work with NOAA meteorologists and volunteers to give residents a stronger voice in the planning and implementation of climate change-preparedness strategies. Fort Wayne is one of several communities selected to participate in the 2024 NOAA Urban Heat Island (UHI) mapping campaign.

UEA-SEED Community Development Manager chosen for Make Startups Executive Fellowship Celebrating Excellence in Entrepreneurial Leadership

This exclusive initiative aims to elevate the impact potential and operational capacity of entrepreneurship support, ecosystem building, and economic development organizations as entrepreneurial ecosystem builders.

Registration Now Open for the 2024 Fair Housing Summit

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Registration is now open for the free 2024 Fair Housing Summit, which features Joshua V. Barr, Esq., Chief Strategist and President of Raising the Barr, LLC. Everyone Home Annual Meeting For Shelter and Service Providers

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne's Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services invites shelter and service providers to a presentation of progress on the community’s plan to prevent and end homelessness, insights from street outreach efforts, and networking opportunities. The meeting aims to work together to brainstorm solutions for a better future. The event will follow-up on the Prevent and End Homelessness plan unveiled in 2023, providing updates on the developments made and goals achieved.

Neighborhood Presidents Meeting

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division will host their next Neighborhood Presidents Meeting at 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 4 at Citizens Square in the City Council Chambers located on the Garden Level. The meeting will also be streamed live on the Fort Wayne Neighborhoods’ Facebook page.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) has honored the City of Fort Wayne; Allen County; Town of Huntertown; Town of Grabill; Town of Monroeville; City of Woodburn; Houseal Lavigne; Troyer Group, Inc; and Pilcrow Marketing with the 2024 Hoosier Planning Award for Outstanding Comprehensive Plan.
