Office of Housing Neighborhood Services invites non-profits to apply for Federal Funding Grants

 

Fort Wayne, Ind. –  The 2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Services and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding cycles will open on February 12, 2024. CDBG and ESG funds are available to the City of Fort Wayne through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Next phase of Pontiac Corridor enhancements to begin, Continued progress in Streetscape investment

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Phase II construction will soon begin on the Pontiac Streetscape project led by the City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division.

Phase II will continue east from Oliver Street to South Anthony Boulevard. Phase I streetscape improvements on Pontiac Street from Hanna to Oliver streets were completed last fall.

Rescheduled Neighborhood Fort-ify Meetings

Fort Wayne, Ind.– The City of Fort Wayne’s Neighborhood Planning and Activation Workgroup has rescheduled the previously canceled Neighborhood Fort-ify Meetings to the following dates:

 Wednesday, January 17th

  • 10:15 a.m.- 11:30 p.m.

ACPL Georgetown Branch, 6600 East State Blvd (NE)

Thursday, January 18th:

  • 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Headwaters Church, 2000 N Wells Street (NW)

 The revised meeting schedule will substitute for the previously canceled January 9th sessions.

Public Art Commission Seeks Artist Commission Member

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Public Art Commission is seeking a local artist to appoint to the Public Art Commission. The Public Art Commission is a 13-member body that oversees the City’s Public Art Program. To qualify for appointment, the individual must be an actively practicing artist or design professional and a resident of the City of Fort Wayne. The Commission meets bi-monthly, and the appointment term is four (4) years.

City opens applications for 2024 Fort-ify Neighborhood Accelerator Program

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division has announced that applications are open for the 2024 Fort-ify Neighborhood Accelerator Program. This is the second year of the program, which was designed as a leadership development program for leaders of new, re-launching and developing registered neighborhood associations in the City of Fort Wayne.

Beginning in April 2024, accelerator participants will take part in monthly in-person workshops, work with city staff to develop a Quick Action Plan (QAP) for their community and complete hands-on activities between workshop sessions to put what they’re learning into practice in their neighborhoods

Neighborhood Presidents Meeting

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division will host their next Neighborhood Presidents Meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 at Citizens Square in the City Council Chambers located on the Garden Level. The meeting will also be streamed live on the Fort Wayne Neighborhoods’ Facebook page.

City’s Heating & Air Conditioning Program (HVAC) Encourages Citizens to Apply for Available Funds

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services continues to accept applications for the City of Fort Wayne’s Heating & Air Conditioning Program. This program offers qualified residents a zero percent interest loan for the replacement and installation of new heating and air conditioning systems for their homes. The loans will be secured by a mortgage and repayment will be required through monthly installments over a 10-year period.

Mayor Henry Leads More Brewing Groundbreaking Celebration

 Fort Wayne, Ind. – Mayor Tom Henry and the City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division today led a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction on More Brewing Company’s restaurant and brewpub located on the North River property.

More Brewing Company, which has three locations in the Chicago area, is planning to invest approximately $6 million to build a two-story restaurant and brewery with a riverfront patio and terrace, located just north of the riverfront public space and near the intersection of Fourth and Calhoun streets. This is the first project to be constructed at North River.
