City holds dedication for Faces of the Fort Civil Rights/Social Justice Mural Project

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Public Arts Commission joined by Mayor Tom Henry,  City Council Members and other city leaders held a series fo dedication ceremonies for murals featuring Hometown Heroes called Faces of the Fort.

The project focuses on celebrating the culture of Fort Wayne’s diverse population by preserving the history of Fort Wayne's diverse neighborhoods while highlighting people who have made contributions to the advancement of civil rights social justice and immigrant quality of life in our community.

City to unveil Faces of the Fort Civil Rights/Social Justice Mural Project

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Public Arts Commission will unveil a series of murals featuring Hometown heroes called Faces of the Fort. The project focuses on celebrating the culture of Fort Wayne’s diverse population by preserving the history of Fort Wayne's diverse neighborhoods while highlighting people who have made contributions to the advancement of civil rights.

City Announces nearly $540,000 Grants to Nonprofit Programs

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry today announced the City of Fort Wayne will invest federal dollars in 19 local nonprofit programs.

Nearly $540,000, in Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds will help low- and moderate-income residents with shelter, employment skills, domestic violence support and youth development. This is more than the usual yearly grant allocations because, due to the pandemic, the City received additional funding from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SEED Graduates 20th Build Institute Entrepreneur Education Class

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Summit City Entrepreneur and Enterprise District (SEED) recently graduated its 20th Build Institute Entrepreneur Education class.

The 14 new companies are launching or relaunching their businesses in the areas of employment for healthcare agencies, adult residential care, childcare centers, housing support for low-income households, and business counseling. The retail businesses include a bookstore, specialty gifts, beauty supply, barber shop, and jewelry. Online businesses include travel and hospitality, and handcrafted wood décor.
